Awantipora (KNO) : Gunshots were heard on Saturday night as government forces cordoned off Aghanzipora area of Awantipora township in Pulwama district. A senior police official said that a joint team of army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police cordoned off the area following specific inputs about the presence of some militants “The forces launched tight operation amid some warning shots in the area close to the district police lines Awantipora”, he added. Meanwhile,a source said that the area continues to be under forces’ siege and there was no exchange of gunfire when this report was being filed on late night.(KNO)
